Deep Bodywork
Intensive Residential Training
We are constantly looking to offer you excellent training. We aim to take your development as a massage therapist to a much higher level. This training in Deep Bodywork® is part of our constant quest to offer information that changes your perspective and sensory development.
Characteristics of the course
Deep Bodywork® is a technique patented by Perry Holloman and Johanna Holloman. Perry and Johanna are Esalen Massage teachers and their experience dates back to the early eighties. Both are referents in Esalen Massage and are part of the team of teachers of the Esalen Massage training.
Due to the growing demand for professionals with deep bodywork skills, Perry and Johanna Holloman have developed a series of seminars designed to teach this healing art to massage therapists. Each seminar focuses specifically on the physical structures being touched and their related functions. Emphasis is placed on how to integrate this work into the format of a flowing massage.
This seminar will focus on understanding the structure and function of the knee, the psoas muscle, and the use of deep and sensitive touch when working the abdominal viscera. Specific topics will be the role of the thigh and hip muscles in supporting the knee; working the iliotibial band; learning to palpate and release the psoas; and massaging the abdominal viscera slowly and deeply. The role of the psoas in chronic back and hip pain will also be discussed.
The prerequisite for this seminar is previous experience as a massage therapist or the equivalent of 150 hours of massage training. This program is designed as an advanced course for those who wish to integrate deep tissue techniques into their work.
Requirement for this training: 175 hours of certified training.
